Having spent a life involved in the game of football, an obvious thing to do on a cold wet day with football matches at a premium, taking a look in to the past of a football club or its administrators was always a source of interest in the various areas in which we lived, and in some cases to us the surprising facts that emerged.

This weekend was a case in point when a decision was made to look at some of the history of Cornwall F.A. to see how, when and where it began its existence.
No doubt many will already know various interesting facts about the local game, but as relative newcomers to the area we were pleasantly surprised to find a list identifying the following as the areas that were the group that formed the Cornwall F.A.
A meeting was held at The Royal Hotel in Truro on the 18th September 1889 at which Dunheved College, ( Launceston ) Liskeard, Millbrook, Penzance, Porthcurnow, Torpoint, Truro and Probus were delegates that were eventually to form the Cornwall F.A.
If the facts found and the date is correct, the amount of travel from all over the county was considerable in the 19th century, and showed an enthusiasim to embrace a relatively new game in to the county, well done all of them, especially those clubs most of whom still exist.
