We Two
Sticker v Helston is an interesting draw and should be a good game to watch. Both of these Cornish clubs exited the Vitality Cup in the first round proper last weekend which ended any Cornish clubs interest in the competition. DJH
St. Buryan 0 Reds 9 A convincing display from the Reds today, putting themselves 3 up after 15 minutes. Never looked back and continued to create good quality chances, most of which were denied by a fantastic performance by the StB goalkeeper. Thanks to St. Buryan. Fantastic welcome and brilliant hospitality. Kept battling and played a very positive style of football. Unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. Great achievement to get through to the quarter-finals of the county cup in only our second season. Looking forward to whoever we draw in the next round. Well done ladies. We Two
Peninsula East was a complete washout in the mens game on Saturday and nothing we fancied in the West and so attention turned to the ladies on Sunday. Saltash Utd was posponed and so it was decided that Sticker v Helston was a good option and we set off for Burngullow Park for the second time in a week. We arrived about 15 minutes before the 2pm K.O. to find that much of the available parking had been taken, a reflection of the popularity the ladies game is enjoying, but we had the good fortune to find a spot where we could remain in the car whilst watching the match. Sticker gave a good account of themselves in the beginning and were the first to score with a well taken goal that told Helston it could be a hard slog to register a win. Speaking to a home supporter it was suggested that unavailability and injuries were an issue for Sticker and they should be happy to have taken the lead. Helston were be party poopers however when they equalised and the scored remained 1-1 until half time. Whether Helston had a half time pep talk or Sticker tired is debateable, bu what ever the reason Helston were the better team in the second half and ran out deserving 3-1 winners. We are unable to say who the scorers were but we can say that we enjoyed the game. On a seperate note our home supporter informant told us thah the ladies team match reports were regularly posted on the clubs website and were worthy of a read. We took her advice and can only say that whoever writes the reports sets an example for others to follow in the interest of their team and football in general.
