In penryn’s final game before the season starts  they welcomed Nanpean to kernick park. First real action came after 13 minutes some excellent play from penryn saw them sweep down the right before the ball was crossed in for Noah Holmes to excellently sweep home, but their joy was short lived as a nanpean flag ruled them offside. The next action came on 30 minutes when some ill judged words from Tyler Trudgeon saw him sent for an early bath after calling the ref a rather nasty name. There where few chances either way, in all honesty nanpean played some great football and were the better side for a 10 minute spell. An error from the nanpean goalie almost saw Charlie Edney sneak in for the opening goal but the keeper redeemed himself half time 0-0. Great sportsmanship shown by Kimmo and the Penryn side as they allow Nanpean to be restored to 11 men to keep the friendly competitive. A reshuffle at half time has seen penryn revert to 3 -5-2 which has given them a bigger foothold in the game. The first 15 mins have been all penryn Edney having the best opportunity but his game shot was easily collected by the nanpean keeper. The only other action of note was skipper Kirk Davies some how managing to squash his man hoppers while trying to control a pass. 20 Minutes into the second half penryn player Jarvis had to come off after twisting his ankle. 70 Minutes and a first save is comfortably made by Harry Salmon in the penryn goal. A quick penryn attack sees them open nanpean up only for the striker to take to heavy a touch and the chance had gone. Luke Truscott and Scott Brown are having solid games for Nanpean Another mazey run from Edney saw him finish it with a weak effort easily stopped by a nanpean defender. More great play from Penryn see’s Jack Reynolds released down the right, he cuts inside but sees his effort we’ll saved by the nanpean keeper Alfie Harbone. How this is still 0-0 going into the final ten minutes is anyone’s guess. A strange decisions sees a penalty waved away after Reynolds is karate kicked in the head from a wild challenge in the box. Some amazing work from Connor hurrell sees him release Teynolds who flashes it across the box but Liam Paddock was unable to add the finish it deserved. Another goal mouth scramble results in Edney closing the keeper down the ball sprung out but hurrels driven volley was blocked by a defender. The last 20 minutes was all Penryn. Even in the dying seconds a late challenge sees Edney again looking to the ref who again waves the penalty appeals away. Final game ends 0-0. Nanpean can be proud of their efforts today, a well organised side who fought for each other to the end. Next up league action for Penryn next week at Kernick park against Helston Development with 1500 kick off.  Hopefully I have the names right if not apologies.
