r_and_l
Penryn welcomed SWPL side Camelford in an entertaining friendly at kernick park. First half was fairly even with some huffing and puffing from both side but neither really testing either keeper. Camelford took the lead just before half time. Kirk Davies wanting a foul for a push but the ref didn’t oblige so the Camelford player had a tap in after a collision between Davies and young Harry Salmon. 3-4 changes at half time including a Debut for Logan Capeling saw Camelford start the stronger increasing their lead to to 2-0. This seemed to kick penryn into life and they started to play the ball around a lot better. A deep cross was headed back across goal for penryn a number 16 Liam Jarvis to nod in pretty much on the line. Less than 5 minutes later a corner was flicked on by Capeling for Charlie Edney to swivel and hit a powerful shot passed the Camelford keeper. The same player was then hacked out by a lunging tackle less than 4 minutes later giving him the opportunity for his second from the spot. He duly obliged giving the visiting keeper no chance from the spot. The final 15-20 minutes really saw the game grind to a halt with neither side doing much. The Camelford players started throwing themselves down a little cheaply from my perspective but it did them no good. Harry Salmon took the opportunity to indulge in some goalkeeping shithousery wasting abit of time on the ball which the Camelford number 9 clearly to exception to as he clattered into him off the ball, should have been a yellow but the ref decided a word was enough. First time watching Penryn and they didn’t disappoint, Camelford played well in patches as did Penryn but on balance I think the right side won. Good luck to both side for the upcoming season.
