Would be interesting to see a list of winning sides, and when it was last competed for (the trophy must be gathering dust in a clubhouse somewhere).

Thanks John, really interesting read. Looks like the competition was an important stepping stone into being successful Western League sides for Falmouth, Saltash and Liskeard.

Slightly off topic, but the history of 3 times winners Road Sea Southampton is a fascinating one. Formed in 1972 and heavily backed by Road Sea (a local freight company), they dominated Sunday football in the Southampton area before applying to, and being accepted by the Southern League despite having never played Saturday football. In 5 seasons in the league they won the division 1 title and finished 5th in the Premier Division (behind Cheltenham and Crawley Town amongst others). They then moved to the Wessex League and finished 2nd in 1986/87, the same season they won the Pratten Cup for the final time, after which they lost the financial backing of Road Sea Freight and abruptly folded. 

Ranks alongside non league teams such as Colne Dynamoes who came from nowhere, shone very brightly, then disappeared.

Thanks, Spot on- Almondsbury, South Gloucestershire  (just North of Bristol)

Greenway Sports merged with Almondsbury to form  Almondsbury Greenway F C  1974 and reched the F.A.Vase Final at Wembley 1981

The club changed name to Almondsbury Picksons 1987-Almondsbury Town 1993 and folded in 2011 as a Southern League SW 1 club.
