The Governor
I thought the game was played in the right spirit, yes there was the odd rash challenge and the referee had the odd decision questioned but both sides played some creative football despite the downpour. Both clubs fielded youthful squads which no doubt contributed to the abundance of energy shown for the full 90 minutes. Bodmin pushed forward early on and created a few good chances but a combination of great defending and poor finishing kept them at bay. Dobwalls broke the deadlock when they broke out from the back, some clinical passing and movement ended with C J Prichard finishing well to give the hosts the lead. Just before the break a goalmouth scramble almost saw Dobwalls extend their lead but a last ditch effort saw it cleared off the line. The second half was pretty much the same and it was Dobwalls who extended their lead, CJ Prichard received the ball out wide on the left and his exquisite shot across the keeper found the target. Dobwalls then had goal ruled out for offside. Bodmin reduced the arrears from a ball over the top of the hosts defence that saw the defenders stop and Dan Tate ran through to fire past the advancing keeper. Shortly after Dobwalls were awarded a penalty which was poorly struck and the keeper made an easy save. The home supporters must have feared that the visitors were going to get something from the game when they pressed forward and created several half chances. They were soon smiling again as the star of the show C J Prichard completed his hattrick. All in all this was a thoroughly entertaining game which was well officiated. The referee dealt with any issues that arose which were few and far between. It was pleasing not to have a constant barrage of abuse aimed at the officials from either dugouts or players. Well done to both clubs Ian Pethick, The Town Man, the leatherhead lip and 2 others
