SWPL Prem Result & table - 24th August 2012

Friday night football at Liskeard brought them their first win of the season as the Blues finished 3-1 winners over Cullompton.

Liskeard got all their goals in the first-half through Chris Clarke (30), 39 mins they went 2 up when a corner bounced in off defender Jake Hobbs leg, and the third, three minutes later, was without their best goal scored by Aaron Hulme after being put through by Andrew Neal.

So after a fairly even opening half hour, Liskeard found themselves comfortable leaders at the break after three goals in about a 12 minute spell.

Six minutes into the second half the visitors Adam Kane scored to get Cullompton on the scoresheet, but despite pressing hard for the next 15 minutes or so, couldn't get another one, although no doubt they will claim to have had a more than decent penalty claim for hand ball on the goal-line turned down. A case of ball hitting hand, rather than the other way around.

I liked the look of Liskeard's No 10 - Andrew "Rocky" Neal, and indeed could well strike up a lethal partnership with a fairly nippy Hulme.

Liskeard had one player from last season's squad - skipper Steve Sims.
