Mike Odgers
I know it wont be of interest to all but I have just compiled the playing record of Falmouth for season 1985-86 in which they completed a League and League Cup double in the Bayly Bartlett South Westerrn League. Under guidance of Manager Dave Wadd the full record was P.48 W.33 D.8 L.7 GF.133 GA.54 Paddy Scrace and Chris Thomas played in all 48 games Phil Shapcott 39 and (Captain) Neil Phillips 33 goals were top scorers and in third place came Paddy Scrace with 9 (All Penalties) Interestingly ONLY two bookings were recorded and NO sendings off-How times have changed. The regular squad was John Dent-Ron Vercesi-Paddy Scrace-Graham Heard-Tommy Matthews-Ronnie Barr-Chris Thomas-Neil Phillips-Chris (Dodger) Long-Phil Shapcott-Kevin Burleigh and the exciting Steve Rogers who appeared during the second half of the season from Goole Town. supporting players in order of appearances were Dave Pimlott-Stuart Wilkes-Johnny Perrow-Lee Harris-John Bell-Brendon Davy-Barry Whitehead. Plus three on loan (ringers) Jerry Collins-Neil Penwill and Chris Souness Another good tale is that Kevin Miller(just turned 17years) deputised in goal for regular custodian John Dent and in a SWLCup Semi Final v Bugle and opposing him was the other Cornish 'Giant' Nigel Martyn who later progressed to play many times for his country. It is believed to be their only meeting on Cornish soil although they did make the National press when they met up again in the F A Cup (Crystal Palace v Watford 1994-95)?
