St Newlyn East AFC
Just heard from our Secretary that Bere Alston have phoned to call our 'top of the table' clash off in Div 2 because of no ref. GUTTED! Jiggy www.clubwebsite.co.uk/stnewlyneastfc
wally6
As a player i was lookin forward to the game. Ruins the weekend . Right decision to not play though . Always awkward wen the ref doesn't turn up and someone steps in from the crowd. Take it we'll have to wait until the cup to face you.
Guest Flintstone
I understood that matches cannot be cancelled until day of the match. What happens now, if a ref becomes available?
St Newlyn East AFC
Agree with you about it being the right decision Flintstone. I wasn't aware of a match not being allowed to be called off before a Saturday though. Guess if that's the case Mike "THE NUKE" Necombe will be on your Secretary's case..LOL! Have already informed my lads that the game is off so some of them may have arranged to do other stuff now if a ref becomes available today. Should have been a good game as both sides seemed to be at full strength. Look forward to playin you soon and having a beer after.
wally6
What difference does it make cancelling the game late on a friday rather than early saturday? With the distance st newlyn east had to travel, im sure it benefits them to know whats happening sooner rather than later. Anyone know what kind of punishment if any the club could receive ? Chapelmanager
Hello all, Manager of Bere Alston here, there will not be any punishment as it was the referee that pulled out (and im sure it must have been for a decent reason to be called off that late). I know there are a lot of refs being moved onto cup games so this may have affected the situation. I thought it would have been a great game (and still will be). Look forward to the pint when we see you :smiley20:
