Below is a quote taken from the SWPL forum posted by Phil Hiscox.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The ground grading inspections have been completed but that sub-committee recommends a decision to pass or fail a club to the board of directors who meet as usual on the 1st Thursday of May.

PH

The word around this forum and at Mount Wise last night, was that Newquay & Penzance have both passed the grading but St Austell and Callington are no longer being considered.

The current top 3 of Div 1 East have all applied but it is not known if they have the appropriate grading but none currently have floodlights (although they may have planning permission, again unknown).

If none of those in the East pass, is it possible that 2 could go up from the West (assuming they finish 1 & 2).

However, all that aside, the fact that Newquay play their last SWPL match on Weds 6th May, this means that the SWPL Meeting to decide finally on gradings (although everyone already seems to know) is not until Thurs 7th May. It is possible, that Newquay could have enough points to be in 2nd place on 6th May but not know if they could be promoted (Penzance play again on 9th May).

Does anyone else see a flaw in this plan ?

Nqy should approach the league and demand that the last match v Truro Res be played on Sat May 9th, the same day as all their rivals. The Truro 1st team seem to be celebrating their "promotion" before they have got the points in the bag but assuming they do achieve this and are therefore not in any playoff then Treyew Road should be free on May 9th. Can't see any flaw in this plan. How about it Phil H/whoever???????????

We beat them away and didn't involve any first team members. Also why would they want to, if their season has finished want to play again? They are majority ex pro's who look forward to the summer break as it's only time they can get off. Grow up!!

You're barking up the wrong tree Jasa.

Wasn't referring to who Truro might pick, just that as all Nqys challengers were playing on SAT 9th May then maybe Nqy shud be allowed to play that day also. This is what happens in all fairly structured leages so that no team has an advantage of knowing what result they need.

Geddit now???

Paranoia as well? Have you seen a doctor lately? I'm not a fan of any team that is purely money driven (Chelsea excepted) but TCFC have had a good run for the last 4 years. As the marathon runners say "watch out for the wall". See my posting re Colne Dynamoes. Some of you have got a bit ahead of yourselves "celebrating" promotion that hasn't been achieved yet but I'm sure you will have your day soonish.

i would prefer if newquay werent playing on the 9th.

we are home to penzance and in order for us to beat penzance and ensure newquay (if it happens) get promoted on the last game.

therefore we would want as many newquay fans and officials as possible to come to ginsters marshfield parc on the 9th to cause havoc for penzance when they come up and make it very tough for them to play with everyone on their backs. i for one would love the enjoyment and the banter around the place.
