Throgmorton Cup 1st.Round

Newquay thoroughly deserved their win against Mousehole. Scott Palmer opened the scoring from the spot after a Mousehole defender was adjudged to have handled it (I think). Mousehole drew level 5 minutes before half time when a free kick from the left was not cleared and the ball was smashed in from 6 yards. Newquay restored their lead on the stroke of half time when Luke Rigby hooked back a ball that he never gave up on and Shaun Middleton finished from close range. Middleton scored his second and the best goal of the game early in the second half when his curling right foot shot from 25 yards nestled in the top right hand corner. Mousehole replied when the referee gave a free kick after he deemed a Newquay defender had made a back pass that the keeper picked up. From the resultant free kick the ball was thundered into the net. Middleton capped a fine night for himself and the team when he completed his hat trick with another left foot finish. The young Mousehole keeper made several outstanding saves in the second half to prevent the home side from scoring again.
