Hypothetical Questions

Recommended Posts

These questions come about as there is one game left in the Combo this season with the game scheduled for Tuesday evening but it is pouring with rain outside.

The last day of the season is this Saturday 31st May.

Here are the questions.

1. Imagine that due to other commitments/match postponements a team can only fulfil their last fixture on the last day of the season and it pours with rain. The ref arrives at the ground and says the pitch is unplayable and the game should be postponed. How would a league deal with that? 1point each or tell the teams to find another venue if possible before 12pm midnight deadline.

2. What happens if one of the teams is in 2/3 place in the league, 1 or 2 points behind the leaders or off promotion. 1 point would not be good enough for promotion. Do they shift venues if possible, get given 1 point each and the team loses the chance of promotion, or what?

3. Same as No 2 but in the case of relegation from senior to junior football. 1 point won't save a team from relegation but 3 would. 1 point each or find another venue?

4. Would both teams walk on the pitch, kick-off then the ref calls it off strait away and says "match abandoned" due to pitch conditions so both teams get a point that they may need for promotion or to avoid relegation
