Hayle vintage Brew 3-2 St Teath

Hayle goals Rappo 1 Lee Norman 1 Simon Bendall 1

(sorry dont know St Teath scorrers)

Anyone who just came and watched this game would not have thought it was a vets game as the quality of football and commitment shown by both teams was excellent it had everything a cup final should have and looked like it might end up going to penalty kicks it was that close nothing to choose between the teams.

St Teath took the lead and were well on top for the first 15 min before Hayle found there shape and started to dictate play leading to a great equaliser from that man Rappo playing as a lone striker for most of the time the ball crossed to the far post and Rappo getting his head on the end of it lobbing it over the keeper into the far corner bringing Hayle back on level terms and into the game again as he's done so many times this season. Then it was Lee Normans turn a ball from the oppossite corner he chested it down beating the defender and putting the ball in the net to put Hayle 2-1 up which at thios stage of the game i think they just about deserved to be, thats how it stood at halftime.

The second half St Teath came out the blocks the quicker side and soon put Hayle under pressure which led to the equaliser after some great saves from Dennis Fallowfeild in the Hayle goal.

Hayle managed to get there game together and do some pressing thereselves, when it looked like the game was heading for penalty kicks Simon Bendall came up with what proved to be the winning goal for Hayle, crowning the perfect season with all three trophys in the bag for the first time ever, well done lads great acheivment. :drink::drink::drink::drink: :drink:

There was a similar feeling about the Devon & Cornwall Supplementary Cup Final that took place earlier in the day.

Grampound Vets 3-0 Tamarside Vets

Goals : Andrew Hearne (2), Glyn Ford (1)

Grampound has only fielded a vets team this season and are so pleased to have made an impact. This win follows on from an emphatic 5-2 win over Tintagel in the semi-final.

Grampound outplayed a strong Tamarside team in a game of football of a good standard and Grampound deservedly lifted the club's first trophy in some years. Tamarside started very strongly and looked very comfortable on the ball but did not really threaten, and as the first half unfolded it was Grampound who began to look the more dangerous. Tamarside's back four were having difficulty coping with Grampound's pacy striker Glyn Ford and several times he was put clear only for the Tamarside keeper to make excellent saves. Grampound eventually took the lead when a free kick out on the left was hit to the far post where Andrew Hearne tucked away a header neatly into the corner. Grampound's football was now beginning to open up their opponents at will and the best move of the game came when Ford was released down the right where he wriggled past a couple of defenders. His pinpoint cross was met perfectly by Mike Saunders at the far post and his powerful header thumped into the roof of the net, only to be denied by a linesman's flag for an offside in the build up. Some Grampound players were still celebrating this disallowed goal as Tamarside went to the other end and created probably their best chance of the day, only to be foiled by a terrific last ditch tackle by Ian Grigg. Just before half time, Ford was again released, beating the offside trap, and he outpaced the pursuing defenders and this time planted his shot in the corner to give Grampound a well-deserved two goal half time lead.

The opening period of the second half saw Tamarside come out strongly and press Grampound back for long periods, but Ian Grigg and Glyn Leaney (Grampound's first team manager) won every challenge as the centre back pair, and the centre midfield pairing of Nathan Cooper and man-of-the match Steve Ridd (Grampound's under-15 manager) were in commanding form, both passing neatly and protecting the back four. In spite of their possession and pressure, Tamarside were unable to penetrate a very solid defence and on the break it was Grampound who looked most likely to score. Tamarside's keeper kept his side in the game with a couple of outstanding saves. Ten minutes from time pressure from Grampound strikers forced a mistake and Hearne was able to chip into an unguarded net for his second and the clinching goal. There was still time for a little drama at the other end as Tamarside were awarded a penalty when a free kick was hit into the defensive wall, but Grampound knew it was going to be their day when the spot kick was hit against the bar and over. Grampound celebrations at the end of the game continued until the early hours with this first season trophy for their Veterans.

Grampound line-up : Tony Ford (player-manager), Andrew Cundy , Ian Grigg, Glyn Leaney, John Ward, Steve Ridd, Tim Topham, Ian Varnell, Nathan Cooper,Glyn Ford, Mike Saunders, Andrew Hearne, Dave Juleff, Alister Berry

Goals : Andrew Hearne (25, 80), Glyn Ford (42)

Man of the Match : Steve Ridd
