Goonhavern 0 Probus 6 (Jack Truscott 3, James Holmes, Joe Emmett, Sam Bullen)

The first half was fairly even, with Probus Sam Bullen having a couple of early chances saved. Goonhavern responded when the Probus keeper, Richard Osborne, saved well twice in a couple of minutes. Probus took the lead, when the lively Jack Truscott slotted home with his left foot. In the last minute of the first half of normal time the home teams centre forward, Ian Gosling (my former Truro Minors team mate, and Fa Vase winner with Truro City), played in his son Albie, but he shot across goal and wide of the far post). That looked like it would be the last action of the half, but Probus increased their lead in the 4th minute of injury time, when Jack Truscott cut in from the left and curled a superb goal into the corner of the net with his right foot. 0-2 at halftime.

Probus didn’t take long to increase their lead, as Jack Truscott charged down the home keepers clearance and the ball looped back over the keepers head and into the net, to complete Jack’s hat trick. Goonhavern continued to try and play football but they weren’t making much progress and didn’t really trouble Probus’s back line. Substitute Jack Holmes tapped home Probus’s 4th and then Goonhavern did score a goal, only for it to be ruled out for offside. Probus scored 2 more in the last 10 minutes, when first Sam Bullen won the ball back and played in Joe Emmett who finished well. The final goal came when Harrison Smith found James Holmes and Sam Bullen tapped home.

Goonahvern competed well without really creating too much and in my opinion Probus deserved the win, although 6-0 was harsh on the home team. The referee, Rodney Campbell, had a good game. No game for Probus next week.
