New season starts today and that was about all that started in the first 30 minutes as far as penryn were concerned. With a very strong wind at their backs Helston set about their plan with clarity and determination. 9 minutes had passed when the hardwork payed off and they took the lead. Penryn offering very little going forward Charlie Edney and Kirk Davies clearly being missed. 20 or so minutes and it was 2-0 a long ball drew Keeper Harry Salmon out but he could do little as the striker just slipped it by him. A defensive change saw confusion rain as only some players were told of the new formation and helston took advantage 3-0. The final 10-15 minutes of the first half penryn at least ventured into Helstons half and caused them a little concern. I’d expect changes at half time as some in the red and black are putting very little effort in. With the wind at their backs Penryn will hope to test the keeper and get back into this game. Surprised there’s be no changes but they have started a little brighter, although still not getting into helstons half. Free kick, and a good delivery helston 4-0. Reynolds latches on to a long kick from Salmon and puts a weak cross in that is easily delt with by Helston. Penryn are rushing everything and look like they’ve never met each other before, never mind played together.penalty to penryn after Connor Hurrel is taken out. 1-4 well taken by Kyle Cook. Little unsure why the Ref has allowed Helston to delay restarts several times with little kick aways. Penryn are looking more interested now and pressing Helston back. Logan Capeling coming close with a powerful header despite being pulled back. Finally helston are in a game. Helston number 10 is screaming a lot and needs to let the ref officiate the game not him. Again little surprised with the new initiative the refs allowing it. He’s having a very good game. Helston seem a little flustered now and the bench and some in the stand wearing kit have started directing the official. The time wasting has become a bit tiresome. The less they have spent in Penryns half the longer they have spent arguing with the ref or throwing themselves either down or into tackles. It’s all Penryn at the moment 4-2 Kyle cook again header from a well taken corner this time. The number 10 Booked for time wasting. A helston supporter has caused the game to stop after being abusive to the ref and has been asked to leave, bit embarrassing for Helston this. For all the good football they played in the first half for me they’ve let themselves down in the second half with all the antics and shouting at the ref. Helston back to getting on the ball and are playing much better for it. Penryn need to get back to applying the pressure. Good defensive delaying tactics from capeling allowed Salmon to get into position to make an excellent save. Kyle cook smashed over when well placed to complete his hat Rick. Liam paddock going close with a header to. Think Penryn are going to regret all these misses. Some great football being played by both sides now heads are back on the game. Another corner and another header won but keeper saves comfortably. Another deep free kick is headed just wide. It’s been a game of two halves and Helston made the most of the wind in the first half. Deserved winners over all, but plenty to take away for Penryn.

Rather disappointing to see after all of the hype on Twitter around Helston Development and the average age of the team that they are being led by people who think it’s ok to treat officials in that way. Hopefully @Blues Chairman gets them to behave correctly, although I also implore the officials to deal with it as well with the new guidance that has been sent out.
