PSF Lanson 1 Honiton 3

Recommended Posts

After a beautiful summer evening in midweek, this PSF played in cold driving rain!!  Summer season here and absolutely drenched to my core!

For an hour Lanson looked comfortable. A Joe Munday goal from close range giving the Clarets the lead. Two goalkeeping errors, the second a calamitous one gifted the Hippos the lead in the second half, which understandably changed the balance of the game. Lanson's goal threat and foothold in the game fizzled out.

Lewis Slade in goal  gets taken off and his young slightly built replacement is immediately beaten by a sumptuous free kick!

First half positives, before heads dropped a bit in the second half, was the work rate and energy of Neil Price's team. Until their first goal Honiton had been restricted to one scoring chance. So today was, overall,  no disaster.

And, it needs saying, Lewis Slade will help Launceston to bag a fair few points with his shot stopping. No-one then will recall a pretty mundane  PSF.

Not the weather you expect for a PSF in July, but the Pennygillam pitch looked good.

Both teams played some good football in the first half, with the Launceston left side impressing with Declan and Trialist A tormenting the Honiton defence. A breakthrough finally came after good work down the Launceaton right was worked into the box and Trialist A did enough to get the ball to new signing Joe Munday who slotted home.

Honiton had a good chance of their own when a mix up in the Launceaton defence dropped nicely to the HOniton attacker whos lobbed effort went just wide. H/T 1-0 to Launceston.

Second half was again a tightly contested affair but a rare mistake by Slade in the Launceston Goal allowed Honiton to equalize. A risky back pass and a heavy touch allowed Honiton to take the lead shortly after. Honiton's third goal was a rocket of a free kick and left the young 16 year old sub keeper no chance.

The game fizzled out after this and apart from a couple of long range efforts from Jaden for Launceston there wasn't much more goal action.

F/T Launceston 1 - 3 Honiton

Honiton ran out worthy winners on the day. Lots of positives for Launceston though with some good performances especially from Trialist A, Declan and Carlos.

With a few players missing today it showed the Launceston squad has got some good depth this season. 1 more PSF to go before the season starts.

IMO Declan was MOTM
