Soccer Follower
St.Columb Minor 4 Downderry 0 h/t 2-0 It was my pleasure this morning to referee this Veterans League match at St.Columb Minor between two very sporting teams. St.Columb Minor went ahead when Boysie Symons turned and volleyed in a corner after 20 minutes and he headed in a long cross just before the break.Downderry came strong in the early stages of the second half and the home keeper made two outstanding saves before Symons completed his hat-trick with a well placed shot. The final goal came in the closing stages with Downderry stretched. Thanks again lads and look forward to seeing you both again in the future. PS. Sorry to have missed you Metts,i understand that you were either working or in bed! Martin McHugh
Thank you Soccer Follower from us at Downderry, we didnt manage to play as well as we can but apart from the rain, intermittent hail storms and blazing sunshine we still enjoyed the game. Always nice to have a ref who understands the veterans game!
Soccer Follower
Yeh,we had a mixed bag of weather, didn't we? One or two players from both teams not too keen to emerge from the changing rooms onto the pitch for the second half because of one particular shower. Stand by what i said about enjoying the game and the players seemed to as well, forgetting the result. Understand the veterans game as i am one myself,Martin!
