Bodmin Women 3 - 1 Wadebridge Town Ladies

Not the brightest of days at Priory Park, but certainly that didn’t deter both sides turning out a great game of football.

A tough pitch made things difficult for the first 30 minutes as the players acclimatised to the soft conditions underfoot.   And it was the home side who got to grips with things first, Kaz Marsden slotting home to give the hosts the lead.    1-0 became 2 before the break, another from the hardworking home midfield, this time 17-year old Emily Geach with the goal.

The rain stopped during the break so conditions improved for spectators, but the playing surface continued to make things difficult for the players.  But Bodmin pushed forward repeatedly and a looping shot from outside the box from 16 year old player of the match Sophie Morford wrapped up the points.

Wadebrige never let their heads drop, and in the final 5 minutes it was they who got a goal on the break from Abi Carbeth to deny the victors a clean sheet.

Both sets of players certainly knew they’d been in a game, and will look forward to the return fixture in early April hoping the weather will be better I’m sure!

Credit to the Bodmin Town FC ground staff for getting the game on, and for the work they’ll be putting in over the next few days to our things right!   Also to young referee Finn James, plus the great numbers in the grandstand on such a horrible day!

Referee:- Finn James
Attendance:- 54
