Gary Hocking
10:50 - Mousehole tweet that the game’s off because of Covid in the Helston team (and wish the Helston players a speedy recovery). 11:25 - Helston tweet that the game’s on. Piss up / brewery / etc. Think I’ll go to Liskeard vs Plymouth Development instead.
AmberArmy
CHARLESTOWN LADIES 1 - 8 BODMIN WOMEN A solid performance from an ever improving Bodmin side in this Earthbound Electrical CWFL D2 match. Somewhat chilly conditions (who would expect anything different at an exposed St Mewan Park) but a pitch in remarkably good shape given the recent weather. Testimony to Charlestown Youth’s ever-improving facilities at their St Mewan pitches. Despite a strong 20 minutes of possession for the visitors, it was in fact the hosts who took the lead, when a strong challenge from the Bodmin captain was deemed worthy of a penalty by man in black Leigh Michael, Charlestown’s Leah Connolly slotting the ball past Bodmin’s 16 year old keeper Freya Spear. But the penalty decision didn’t get to the visitors, and as the game went on Bodmin found the net at regular intervals, taking a 3-1 lead into the break with goals from Cally Hoskin, Emily Geach & Gracie Davies. After the break Bodmin continued where they’d left off, with their fitness levels evident as they dominated the game whilst trying to play good passing football inspired by Coach Vicky Fisher. Second half goals from captain Tara Bell, a second from Gracie Davies and a hat-trick for Sophie Morford put the game well beyond doubt. A youthful side (8 of the 16 being under 18, and 11 under 21!), Bodmin getting better every game they play in this their first season together. All in all a great advert for the women’s game, and as others on here say, if you haven’t got to a women’s game just yet, next Sunday is your chance!
