Sticky through in cup

Bude Town Ladies 0-6 Sticker Ladies

Sticker Ladies made the journey to the North coast for the second time on Sunday to face Bude, but this time in the league cup, and after a solid performance came away with a place in the next round after a 6-0 victory. Sticker were always in control of proceedings and forced their hosts to defend from the off creating a lot of chances, but a series of good goalkeeping and strong defending kept Sticker at bay for a while. Sticker’s pressure paid off part-way through the first half when midfield maestro Nelinha Barros slotted the ball home at the far post after good work from Abby Trudgeon. In-form striker Tori marks added a second soon after giving Bude a huge task to keep their cup hope alive as the Sticker pressure continued, but when Marks bagged her second and Sticker’s third the tie was effectively over. The second half followed the first with constant Sticker pressure and a brace from Lucy Rothero and first of the season from Jodie Smith completed a comfortable win for Sticker. Manager Andy Hoskin will have been pleased to see his side continue their fine form and with Jade Martin returning to action after a knee injury and putting in a solid performance the injuries within the squad are starting to ease.

Star player for Sticker was Jodie Smith after a hard-working performance down the left-hand side and a first goal of the season.
