Foxhole 3 Camelford 1

Saturday 1st March 2008

With only eight minutes remaining of this scrappy affair in which Foxhole had created virtually nothing but appeared to be hanging on relatively comfortably to the lead given them by Rickard on 70, there was no sign of the drama to come. But Hoskin capitalised on substitute Morris' poor back header to centre for Hopper to turn home an equaliser, and a draw seemed the least Camelford deserved after largely dominating the game, squandering several chances without, it must be said, ever really extending Ryan Holland.

However, within moments, Griffin turned his man on the edge of the box before firing a thunderous drive past Hicks. The young keeper had been a virtual spectator all afternoon but nevertheless was soon to be beaten for a third time, as Hill converted an injury time penalty after Heywood was harshly adjudged to have impeded Warne.

Up till then, Foxhole had been distinctly second best and would have been down and out had the visitors displayed a modicum of composure in front of goal. Balsdon hit two early chances wide before hobbling off and his replacement Mabley's goal-bound first touch was deflected past an upright while, after the break, Menhinick, all too easily escaping the attentions of Grose, was wasteful on at least three occasions.

The Foxes' first shot didn't arrive until 50 minutes in when Hicks easily gathered Griffin's long range daisy-cutter, although Warne was unlucky to see his free kick graze the top of the bar. For disputing a decision, Bromley's name entered the referee's notebook, joining that of Griffin, earlier booked for a harmless challenge on the impressive Slateford, before the Iraq-bound marine showed what the team will miss by first unselfishly setting up Rickard for his tap in, and then notching that killer second himself.

Foxhole (3-5-2): Ryan Holland 6; Jeff Dillon 7, David Grose 5, Richard Fairclough 6; Jason Warne 5, Scott Hill 6, Steve Panter 6, Adam Bromley 5, Adam Holland 6 (sub. Colin Morris 5); Richard Griffin 7, Carl Rickard 6 (sub. Liam Nicholls 6).
