cornish_boy84
Perranwell 5 - 2 Mawgan Perran gained revenge for their only league defeat this season with a solid performance against a good Mawgan side. Perran took the lead after a push in the box resulted in a penalty which was well saved by the keeper but Jameson was first to the rebound to score. 1-0. Mawgan had chances to score but 2 good saves from Power kept Perran's lead intact. However, he couldn't do anything about the equaliser which was a well hit shot from the edge of the box. 1-1. Madeley's long range effort nearly gave the lead back to Perran but it hit the crossbar and bounced out. The scores remained level at half time. Perran retook the lead when a foul just outside the box resulted in a G.Boon freekick which hit the crossbar and went in off the defender on the line. 2-1. With the wind in our favour Jameson soon got his 2nd with a smart turn and shot which found the bottom corner of the net. 3-1. As Mawgan continued to push forward a break away attack saw Jameson turn provider to Senior who added the fourth. 4-1. With time ticking away Mawgan pulled a goal back with about 5 minutes left, however, Bridger got in on the act and put away Annears cross from the right. 5-2. A great team performance in wet and windy conditions which takes us top of the league! :)

ah reckon so
Perranwell 5- mawgan 2 Perranwell were worthy winners and were quick on the break we had to push forward to try and get back in the game. The penalty for the first goal was dubious to say the least with nobody from either side knowing what it had been given for. We had a couple of players below par but that it is not to take any thing away from Perranwell who were the better team on the day. Mawgan have struggled the last couple of weeks and certain players need to take a long look at themselves if we are to be there at the end of the season, still a lot of football to be played and Mawgan have played all the top sides and apart from saturday have always put up a strong showing. Thanks to Perranwell for their hospitality (1-1 over the season) hopefully we will see you next year in div
