Guest
I found an interested snippet in a newspaper obituary from February/March 2006. Gordon Campbell represented Falmouth Docks, Falmouth Town, Truro City and Mawnan at football and also played cricket for Falmouth. After a career at Falmouth Docks finished, he worked for Falmouth GPO keeping the kiosks in good order. The GPO football team were short one day and Gordon agreed to help them out and scored 2 goals. The interesting thing about the story - he was 65 years old at the time (it was around 1984). In the Falmouth Packet that very week, in the "50 years ago this week" section was a mention that 15 year old Gordon Campbell played for the All Stars and scored two goals. Quite an achievement 50 years apart. He once wrote to Plymouth Argyle where he was a season ticket holder telling them to take a look at a promising young goalkeeper called Kevin Miller. The Pilgrims showed no interest - whatever happened to him!! "Twinkle Toes" died in 2006 aged 87 but scoring a brace at 65 I reckon would take some beating.
