Foxhole 1 Liskeard 0

Saturday 20 th October 2007

Awesome Foxhole earned a third round trip to Tavistock after this fantastic effort at Goverseth. Colin Morris thumped home the winner on 57 minutes, running on to Adam Holland's flick to beat Fisher with a fine angled drive to cap a fine personal performance which was indicative of the whole team, who scrapped and fought for every ball.

While Liskeard inevitably enjoyed the bulk of the possession, so determined was the home defending that the visitors created relatively few clear-cut opportunities. Even then, they were rebuffed by the imposing Ryan Holland, who gave a faultless display, including a miraculous save from Richardson's firm header after 37 minutes, Wright somehow then blazing wide the loose ball with the net gaping. Holland's other notable moments included denying Miller in each half and stretching to tip Alexander's daisy-cutter around the post near the end, while Woodfield ought to have equalised at the death, but instead he nodded late substitute Wood's centre past the upright.

Morris' wonder-strike was not, however, Foxhole's only attempt - three times Hill burst through only to be let down by uncomposed finishing, while Holland misdirected his header from Dillon's deep free-kick. The Foxes stood firm even when faced with Liskeard's innovative 2-4-4 formation, to heroically, and magnificently, defy the odds.
