Duchy League midweek reports

Grampound reserves scored in the very last seconds of the game to win the Reserve Team Cup. The match played on a superb surface at Godolphin saw St.Minver start the stronger and they took a 15th minute lead through Luke Henderson. Grampound started to pick their game up and on the half hour Kevin Toms pulled them level. The second half saw Grampound with a slight advantage of possession, but chances were few and far between. Ten minutes from the end Grampound’s attacker looked to be through on goal but he took his shot too early and near the end a St.Minver attacker headed over the bar when in a good position. With extra time looming Grampound were awarded a free kick from the left side edge of the box. A good free kick followed allowing Ryan Clark to put a left foot shot in the corner. The game just kicked off with the referee blowing for full time almost immediately leaving the Duchy officers to frantically get the plaques ready for the presentation made by League President Brian Conyon MBE.

Division One Champions Foxhole won again, 2-1 away to AFC Bodmin. Paul Reed and Martyn Probert scored for Foxhole with Richard Cooper replying.

Callington Town require just one point from their final game to take the Division Two title. In their penultimate game they defeated Gunnislake 3-1. Kieran Prescott scored a brace taking him to 39 goals for the season with James Pascoe also on target. Kieren Jasper replied for Gunnislake.

Veryan remained undefeated throughout their Division Three campaign being held only once to a draw. They finished with a 5-2 win at St.Stephen Reserves. This was a better performance from St Stephen Reserves. It took until the 23rd minute for Veryan to take the lead, a corner swung into the far post was met on the volley by Justin Trebilcock who unchallenged made no mistake from 5 yards. St Stephen fought back and in the 40th minute Charlie Stone scored with a shot from 8 yards out. Half time was getting close and St Stephen could have gone in front but Anouar Jamai scuffed his shot from 2 yards and a Veryan player managed to clear it off the line. One minute later in the 45th minute Veryan took the lead when Liam Cope headed in from a free-kick. The 2nd half was only 6 minutes old when a Veryan 1-2 was finished off by Andrew Pearce from 5 yards out the ball slotted down to the keepers left hand corner. In the 53rd minute Veryan scored again through Daniel Vincent. Veryan then were awarded a penalty on 65 minutes when the St Stephen goal-keeper Matthew Truscott committed a foul in his penalty area, Craig Phillips scored from the penalty spot to make it 1-5. St Stephen pulled a goal back in the 76th minute when Stone lobbed the Veryan keeper for his second goal of the game. St Stephen hit the bar through Rodney Rickard's attempted lob on 80 minutes the ball being pushed against the crossbar and out. A good end to the season for St Stephen who will hopefully find it easier in Division 4 next season, with a pleasing performance losing but with their heads held high.

Real Saltash take the runners up spot in Division Five following Roche’s failure to win at St.Teath. The sides drew two apiece.
