Dave Deacon
It finished Cornwall 1-2 Dorset and so the holders are out! (Photos can be viewed on CS website) Dorset arrived with only the bare 11 after two players apparently dropped out this morning, but this didn't stop them taking a 32nd minute lead. The visitors made the most of some sloppy defending, skipper Sammy Glatzel scoring after good work by their impressive No 9 Jones. 5 minutes later it was all square with Harry Ahearn knocking it past the Dorset keeper after David Leech made the most of a long ball forward. The Penryn player couldn't be shaken off the ball by the Dorset defence and slid the ball inside to Ahearn to level the game. After the beak Cornwall took the initiative without unfortunately really threatening the visitors too much though and in fact it was Dorset who came the closer to score. That came in the 75th minute with a header beating the Duchy's goalkeeper who was no doubt grateful to see the ball bounce back off the upright and stay in play! With extra time looming things got even tougher for Dorset when they were reduced to ten men after a player was shown his second yellow. Referee Kevin Knowles having no choice to produce the card after a late tackle on a Cornwall defender. Soon after though it was the Dorset players celebrating a goal with a brilliant finish on the break and ensuring the journey was worthwhile with passage into the next round. Cornwall's squad on the day (not all necessarily appearing though) : James Wignall, Dan Marks, James Haywood, George Lumley, Jack Glover, Harry Ahearn, Aidan KIllen, Martin Duff, Charlie Hambly, Dario Pisano, Callam McOnie, David Leech, James McNary, Louis Price and Hayden Bray.
