Trelawny League results Tues 6/5/14

Recommended Posts

Prem : Constantine 2 - 3 Threemilestone.

Scorers: Ryan Stephens x3

Threemilestone were leading 2-0 after two goals from Ryan Stephens however were pegged back by a fighting performance from a well organised Constantine side. At 2-2 both teams had chances including a period of 5-10 minutes in which the Threemilestone box came under a lot of pressure. However with around 5 minutes to play the ball fell to Ryan Stephens who tucked it away to complete his hatrick and complete the win.

Good game and good grub afterwards many thanks too Constantine.

Constantine 2-3 threemilestone
A dramatic final 15 saw threemilestone snatch 3 points in the final moments.
Threemilestone scorers: Stephens 3
Think that's 44 for the season.

Seem to have posted at the same time :)

Helston 4-1 winners away at Mousehole. Chris reed, mike Hallibone, phil black and Jamie lightfoot the scorers. Think that's the top 3 settled in the prem now! Just the title to decide, illogans next two games are against three milestone and Helston, so will be a interesting few days!! If they take four points from those I think that'll settle it, nice to see a bit of competition in these leagues though!!

Div 4

Newlyn NA Res. 2 -vs- 2 St. Ives Mariners

Not much between the sides, as the score-line suggest. Newlyn created the clearer chances in the first half, but couldn't get past the young ( :ninja:) Mariners keeper, who made one magnificent save to keep it level. As half time approached, Newlyn managed to squeeze a neat shot from 10 yards passed the keeper for a slender lead at the break. More of the same in the second half (although I missed about 15 minutes of play wading through nettles and onion flowers etc looking for a ball), again with the Mariners keeper in top form. Finally, after a spell of pressure of their own, Mariners were awarded a penalty, and scored after a re-take (he scored the first one too). Within a few minutes, Newlyn were back in front with a penalty of their own, so 2-1 with 15 to go. Both defences looked fairly sound, and with about 5 to go, Newlyn were looking reasonably comfortable, but a free-kick conceded a few yards outside the box allowed Mariners to score the equaliser directly from the kick with a great finish.

The 8 year-old referee was very good, correctly giving both penalties and generally doing well throughout. Seriously though, he was young, but well done to him!

The point guaranteed Newlyn's status in Div 4 for another year - with 2 games left.
