phoenix
Sticker 0 LC Phoenix 1 Launceston College Phoenix moved closer to contesting the Duchy 2 league title by securing all three points at Sticker. The alumni team knew from the outset that Sticker's midfield was their biggest threat and were set out to deny them space in the middle. Sticker dominated possession in the first half, missed a decent chance early on but never really carried a potent threat up top. Phoenix continued to frustrate their opponents and in the last 15 minutes of the game switched their formation to put more pressure on the Sticker defence. Sticker struck the woodwork, while Phoenix began finding more space in the final third. Nathan Cox fed a fine ball through to Darren Webber who finished confidently for the alumni team with only 5 minutes remaining. Sticker pushed for equaliser, but Phoenix were resolute in defending all over the pitch, as they had been for most of the game. The White Hart man of the match award: Nathan Cox- the Phoenix skipper was instrumental in Phoenix maintaining their discipline and shape against a very good Sticker midfield.
