Truro City 1, Salisbury City 1

Let's talk football from Treyew Road for a change!

It finished a draw, one which before the game with Salisbury arriving as league leaders, probably most would have taken. However, despite Fitchett missing an early opportunity to give them the lead, I thought Truro probably deserved to go in at half-time with more than just the one goal margin.

Kieffer Moore gave Truro the lead after 9 minutes touching home a great right wing cross from Dan Green. Soon after striking partner Andy Watkins had a shot blocked as the game went from end to end confirmed by all but a goal-line clearance either by Green or 'keeper Tim Sandercombe! Jamie White went wide for Salisbury, while Adam Kelly (who I thought had a very busy game for Truro in midfield) had an effort blocked by Salisbury's goally Willem Puddy.

Just before the half-hour Truro were forced to make a change with skipper Jake Ash leaving the action after a clash of heads. Player/manager Lee Hodges took his place.

Seconds before the half-time break City was inches away from making it 2-0 when Andy Watkins lobbed the advancing Puddy. He got on the end of a Moore flick on, but the ball went agonisingly wide!

Early in the second half the referee felt obliged to start waving his yellow card - Hart and Udoji for Salisbury, Kelly for Truro. Just before the hour Stewart Yetton came on for Watkins who felt his groin tweak again, while soon after Moore should have perhaps got closer to heading home a cross. As it was, it was Salisbury who scored next. After Sandercombe did well to prevent White adding to his three for the season, he could do nothing about Ryan Brett following up and scoring from close range.

At 1-1 and Truro's legs tiring and the team sitting deeper and deeper, one had to wonder if they would survive for another 20 minutes or so, but they did and in fact could have snatched a winner when Stewart Yetton headed wide from close in.

Overall though it was a game that Truro can come away from holding their heads high, but it would no doubt be a relief for everyone if that elusive first win of the season was to come. Monday's opponents Weston Super Mare find themselves bottom with only one point from three games, however there must be doubts about whether Ash and Watkins are fit to play or not!
