Helston barely needed to move out of second gear to comprehensively despatch the mediocre Foxes who, after squandering the first chance inside three minutes when Stephen headed over from Rundle's volley, were forced on the back foot for the rest of the half, if not the whole match. Only desperate clearances from Holland and Stephen prevented the impressive visitors from taking a two goal lead early on, while home custodian Ryan Holland did well to field Young's effort to his right, and he was relieved to see Goldsworthy's header from Thomson's centre sail over before being eventually beaten on twenty minutes when Young netted from close range at the second attempt following a dangerous cross by Russell. Helston continued to dominate and ought to have extended their lead before the break, but Howlett's weak connection to Thomson's outswinging corner was scrambled clear, Goldsworthy fired wide at the near post after a clever turn inside Faircloth while Stephen again displayed defensive steel to block Eddy's effort after Stone had trodden on the ball.

There was no respite from the incessant pressure on the restart, the Foxes' goal leading a charmed life. Russell's fiercely driven centre flashed across the box and Holland twice denied Eddy, who finally found the net on the hour when he converted Stidwell's pass. The same pair almost combined again soon afterwards but this time Eddy was off target before the Foxes at last tested Robertson on sixty-nine minutes when Rundle's first-time effort was tipped wide, Giltjes' corner then being nodded over by Stephen. Within seconds, though, Goldsworthy had added a third, confidently heading home Eddy's cross before the striking duo wasted an easy opportunity by both going for the same ball with the goal gaping. Substitute Harry twice tried his luck from distance and Young fired wide at the far post before Eddy completed the scoring with five minutes remaining when his left-footed shot found the bottom corner off Adam Holland's shin.
