Recommended Posts

Champions Falmouth athletic hosted st keverne at drecena today and a quick start to the game for athletic saw Brett sourtherton one on one with the st keverne keeper from a cross from the right which was brilliantly saved and then wrongly flagged for offside. Athletic were soon attacking again and a great cross field ball left st keverne exposed and a great curling effort went straight in the top corner for 1-0. Athletic again started to push forward and got there second soon after when from a corner the ball broke free and on rushed athletic to slot it away. St keverne then hit back with a quick break and a great finish off the post. Right at the end of the first half athletic broke through again and one on one the st keverne keeper made a fine diving save to tip the ball just round the post low to his right. The second half was now to be dominated by athletic. It started quickly with athletic breaking through with a race between the striker and the keeper to the ball which resulted in the athletic striker smashing the ball into the face of the on rushing keeper and the ball bounced clear. moments later athletic broke down the left and a fine cross in met the head of an unmarked athletic player who's header looked destined to extend the scores but outstanding full stretch save to the keepers left kept st keverne in the game. with attacks coming freely a fine ball through the middle met by an athletic striker easily slotting the ball in the corner for 3-1. Moments later an amazing strike from the athletic central midfielder rifled towards the goal and even a strong hand couldn't keep out the amazing strike which now mate it 4-1. Athletic then broke through yet again after some good play and a fine challenge by the st keverne defender was punished and a penalty was given and slotted away cooly for 5-1. St keverne then broke forward in a rare venture into the athletic half and a thunder strike into the top corner made it 5-2 as a mere consolation. There was still time for one more athletic attack and the ball was played to the edge of the box and an in rushing athletic midfielder put everything into a shot that looked destined for the bet but an amazingly strong diving hand from the st keverne keeper somehow kept the ball out. all in all it could of been a bigger margin but Athletic deserved winners and are looking in good shape for the cup final.
