Nalders League Cup

Gloweth 4 Halsetown 2 (AET - full time 2- 2)

West Cornwall 3 Mpad 2

Booters 0 Tremough 5

Culdrose Star 0 Vs Truro GWRSA 4

Division 2

Shortlanesend 4 Vs Penzance Aspro 1.

Tremough Two 2 Crowntown 2

A fair result from a good game played in an excellent spirit. Ref Dave Baxter went to the wrong venue but arrived to make it all fine.

1 - 1 at half time. 2 - 2 with 15 mins to go when Crowntown were reduced to 10 men but, even without Bill, they held out until the end.

Special mention to Stuffy, in the Crowntown goal. After only 4 games he's looking really good and is available for South Africa.

West Cornwall 3 v mpad utd 2

A bit of a strange game in that West Cornwall could have finished out of sight, but I still feel disappointed as the game was there for the taking had we wanted it.

West Cornwall started incredibly fast and were two-up within the first 10 minutes. The first goal was very well-taken with their striker getting to the ball quicker than our keeper. I think we could have done better defensively with the second goal, but we'd given ourselves an up hill task.

Once we'd got over the initial shock we started to play some good football and put them under pressure, however, a series of poor finishes and good saves, as well as us making the wrong decisions stopped us getting any further. A good goal from Lee Jeffery before half-time gave us some hope of getting back in to the game.

We had the first real chance of the second-half but Glen Jeffery saw his shot well-saved, but it was West Cornwall who scored the next goal following a goalkeeping error which allowed a simple tap in.

I think that really killed us and for the first time this season our heads really dropped. Despite having to chase the game we really didn't get going and West Cornwall had several chances to extend their lead. Had they been more clinical they could have scored five or six.

Three substitutions and a change to a 3-2-5 formation gave us a kick start, but Andrew Jenkin's well-placed header to pull a goal back was too little too late. As soon as West Cornwall kicked-off the ref, who had a very good game again, blew for full-time.

Good luck to West Cornwall in the semi-final and the rest of the season.

Knock Out Cup Final @ St Blazey, Carlyon Arms 2 - Galleon 4, Galleon retain the cup against the same team at the same venue as last year and deservedly so. Carlyon Arms 1-0 up at break but were taken to the cleaners in the second period. Losing 2 players to injury and taken to hospital didn't help but the reality is Galleon are fast improving and have the ability to challenge Carlyon Arms and St Blazey next season.
