Crowntown 4 Halsetown 2

Referee phoned at 9.45 to say that he couldn't make it. Old Billy took up the whistle and the game was played in splendid conditions. (Just a bit of wind and mud, nothing that would have worried a First World War soldier.)

Really quite a good game. Halsetown, perhaps understandably, got a bit niggly and complained about too many decisions when the game finally went away from them, If the referee is supplied by the winning side, he's never going to find it easy!

Crowntown took the lead just before half time and, 8 minutes after the break made it 2-0 Halsetown soon pulled one back before giving away an unnecessary penalty which Jamie Marles, for once, converted. 3-1 Another Halsetown goal, ripping the Crowntown defence apart, brought them back in the game at 3-2, before a suicidal back pass made it easy for Jamie Marles to wrap the game up with his, and Crowntown's, fourth - the idiot showing off by diving to push the ball over the line with his (big) head. Good job it's his mum that washes the kit.

As the game ended, the rain came down in torrents.
