  1. As someone who has been watching torpoint for the last 20 years+ and witnessed them winning all the cups and coming close to winning the league but finishing 2nd, all my fondest memories are of the vase games. There is nothing like an away trip in the vase and really seems to bring good spirit and the club together. Well done torpoint you did the town proud If you can bear to watch it, the QF Video is online at http://www.isstv.tv/video/660/poole-town-vs-torpoint-athletic-fa-vase-quarter-final
  2. The Man of the Match award is a sponsor's award for a Poole player and as I stood behind Martin Piper for the whole match, I can confer that this was the best performance by a keeper that I have seen this season. I can only think of a couple of shots from Poole that were not on target and most of the saves were the result of good positioning and anticipation. We have played much worse this season and scored many more. At 2-1 especially with the possession and pressure from Poole many teams would (and have) folded but Torpoint played the full 90 minutes. They fully deserved the ovation from the travelling support at the end of the match. Both teams tried to play football and it was one of the cleanest games I have seen for a while. A good referee, I know that because I did not notice him, let the game flow and maybe it was only our secret weapon, the size of the Tatnam pitch, that finally beat Torpoint. As we suspected, Torpoint were not a Step 6 standard side but then SWPL is not really a Step 6 league. My final question, if we agree that the best performance of the day was from Martin Piper, who did you think was Poole's best player?
  3. Sounds like you are taking it like us. We have ever got this far before and if you beat us, fair play. We are a friendly club but don't mess with Dylan our mascot. If you want a laugh watch the video of our last round match with Spennymoor where the mascots have a fight. www.isstv.tv
  4. I am not sure who you support Razzer, maybe Bodmin, but the reason Poole win so many games is that they play for 90+ minutes. So its not the first half you have to worry about, it is the second and once we get ahead its like a steamroller. That being said at this stage of the cup you have to play one of the best 8 teams at Step 5 or below. We will not take Torpoint lightly and we are up for cracking game, make a few friends and may the best team win.
  5. Down here in Darzet we are taking nothing for granted. We are well aware of the standard of the SWPL and know that many of your teams would do well at Step 5. We do not underestimate Torpoint as we did not underestimate Bodmin in the FA Cup. We are looking forward to a great occasion however and win or lose, your fans and team will get a friendly reception here. We like good football and it will be appreciated. If you want to know what Poole supporters are saying go to www.samspud.proboards.com regards secretdolphin AKA JohnA
  6. Looks like someone has done their homework and to be fair to Bodmin, I don't think the team we put out that day was weak. I don't know if there is a separate Torpoint Fans forum but all are welcome on Poole's forum at www.samspud.proboards.com. You have to register and it can take up to 24 hours to be approved but you'll find us a friendly bunch. We have just launched a new Clubshop online and have produced some limited edition Poole Town vs Torpoint Atheltic badges. You can buy them online at www.poolebaymedia.co.uk/pooletownfc for collection on the day or reserve one on the forum. Their are 4 styles and one has nearly sold out. Look forward to seeing some of you on our forum and on there I am JohnA.
