Crowntown v Star Inn

Recommended Posts

The mighty Crowntown, led by thier longtime leader billy marched to thier 3rd victory in the Parter Hickey cup final on sunday, played at wendron.

the pitch was outstanding, a bit bobilly but still better than any sunday league pitch!! lol! this was the Milan derby between two clubs who share the same pitch, and many of the players knew each other so the bragging rights were up for grabs also! both teams had Jamie's upfront, and these 2 are 1st and 2nd in the top goal scoring table, so goals were on the cards, and with crowntown not keeping a clean sheet in 5 years goals were a def!!

the game started off as many predicted at a fast pace, with crowntown creating chances, but not really making the best of them, and star also had a few opportunities but nothing came of them. after 36 mins crowntown went 1-0 up when a qucik free kick from jody marles put jamie marles through and he crossed for stuart smeeth to cooly finish with his left foot. star had a few good young lads and they created a good chance just before half time but were unable to finish it off. so 1-0 half time.

the game kicked off and star had obvioulsy been given a bit of a bollocking as they went straight at crown!! with jamie mooney always a threat up front, and the young lad on the left causing mayhem for the cornw defence. it was not long beofre they were awarded a penaly after jason smeeth brought down a player just inside the box, they slotted it home to make things even. that gave crown a kick up the ass they needed, and from a darren browning corner jason smeeth rose like a salmon and headed home to put cornw back into the lead. darren mitch and jp at the centre of defence were outstanding all day, and john and billy were also outstanding on the flanks, billy was rolling back the years and actually got past the halfway line at one point, and then his radar kicked in and he soon went back to where he was comfortable, were kind of!! lol

jamie marles was causing the star defence trouble and he nicked the ball off of a defender on the half way line and then ran down the right flank, cut inside, and then hit the ball through the keepers legs to make it 3-1. richard scott was working hard in the centre of the park, and he was put through and finished by dinking, yes dinking it over the keeper to make it 4-1. the fitness of cornw was beginning to shine throuhg, all the training was beginning to pay off............a cross from darren browning was met on the penalty spot by richard scott who volleyed it into the top of the net, di canio style!! awesome stuff! to complete the scoring 5-1 to crowntown. roughly 30 people on total wathc the game, and a big thanks to all at wendron for hosting the game.

an end to anothr great season for crowntown. with a great effort from billy, jody, and not forgetting harry ball for all the work he does behind the scenes, including organising his martial arts classes.....for his own fitness.... :clapper::drink::thumbsup: :yahoo:
