allforone1889
Report From This Is Cornwall City easily disposed of struggling Bracknell to strengthen their grip on top spot in Division One South and West of the BGB Southern League. With rivals AFC Totton and Windsor & Eton both drawing against Uxbridge and Beaconsfield respectively, Saturday's win took Truro five points clear at the top of the table with seven games left to play. Goals by Scott Walker, Martin Watts, substitute Liam Eddy and Stewart Yetton were enough to give Truro to their fifth straight league victory and their eighth in a row in 2009. And while the game at a chilly Treyew Road on Saturday lacked the drama of City's 4-2 midweek win over title rivals Windsor & Eton it was a case of job done for Sean McCarthy's men. The depleted Berkshire visitors were probably the weakest side Truro have faced at home and City won pretty much as they pleased in difficult, windy conditions. They dominated from the start with Martin Watts missing a couple of good early chances before Scott Walker put City 1-0 from a free-kick midway through the half. But despite controlling the game it was not until stoppage time that Watts made it 2-0 with a good finish from Andy Taylor's cross. The second half followed a similar pattern with Truro controlling the match against a Bracknell side content to sit back and avoid a hammering. Eddy finally made it 3-0 after 83 minutes when he burst through to score and in stoppage time Yetton headed home Jake Ash's cross from point blank range to complete the scoring. It was all to easy for City who face a much tougher test at Paulton Rovers on Monday evening.
