Dobwalls 4 Godolphin 2

Recommended Posts

It was a cracking game to watch although the gale force winds made things interesting at times.

Dobwalls got off to a dream start when a misunderstanding between a defender and the keeper saw Stewart Dunn tap into an empty goal with only a couple of minutes played.

The home side played well for about twenty minutes but could not extend their advantage.

Godolphin got more into the game playing some good flowing football and deservedly equalised before the break.

The visitors started the brighter in the second spell and put pressure on the hosts but could not capitalise on their greater possession.

In the space of ten minutes two solo runs by Dan Murdoch created a cushion for Dobwalls when firstly Dan Discombe got on the end of a well placed cross to fire home a well drilled shot and shortly after Dunn had his shot parried by the keeper only for the loose ball to fall to debutant Ben Waters who tapped in from close range.

The visitors pressed forward but went further behind when Dunn scored his second of the afternoon.

Godolphin fought until the end and reduced the arrears with a well hit free kick that gave Ellis Glassup no chance.

Glassup then made a fine save minutes later to thwart a late fight back.

I am not sure who scored for Godolphin but the lad who scored from the free kick had a cracking game, maybe somebody from the visitors can put us in the picture.
