Newquay 1 Penryn 4

Recommended Posts

Penryn deservedly gained revenge for the defeat suffered aginst the Peppermints a few weeks ago. Newquay experimented with a new system which failed miserably. Despite Scott Palmer going close early on inept defending saw Penryn open the scoring after 10 minutes. Poor marking in the box saw Dom Pullen finish with a tidy and contolled volley 5 minutes later against his former club. Things got worse when again hesitant defending allowed Pullen to volley home his second from the edge of the area. Newquay re-shuffled and came more into the game and Raven saved well from a Palmer free kick. Newquay needed an early goal in the second half but gifted their opponents a fourth by passing straight to Pullen who was unlucky not to score a hat trick but hit the post and from the rebound Hobbs? converted. Newquay pushed forard and created several chances with Palmer hitting the post and Jake Hartigan hitting the bar. Luke Weldhen scored a header from a Hartigan corner but it was all a bit too little too late. Good luck to Penryn in the next round away to Tavistock.
