Ian Pethick
Have acquired a bumper collection of mostly Liskeard Athletic programmes (100's of them from the 80's,90's and 2000's,Mrs Way Of The Park is particularly thrilled 😏), and have spent the lazy days between Christmas and New Year going through them. Loads of interesting stuff to read, and plenty of players. managers and matches I had forgotten about. One Saltash United publication threw up the name of ex Arsenal midfielder and 1970/71 season double winner, Eddie Kelly in their line up ( was around 1986/87, so was post his spell at Torquay United). Got me thinking, along with former Aston Villa centre back Allan Evans, are these the only two players to have appeared for a Cornish club after winning the old Division One title? Evans of course, must be the only European Cup winner to play for a Cornish or South Western League club. I do know about George Best turning out for Penryn, but that was a friendly.
