Guest Black&White
Late result: Saturday 26 January Penzance 2, Launceston 2 (aet) Launceston won 3-1 on pens Launceston are through to the semi-finals of the Cornwall Charity Cup after this penalty shoot-out victory at Penlee Park. Clarets keeper Paul Hider was the hero for the premier division outfit, saving three of Penzance's four penalty kicks, while all three Launceston penalty takers found the back of the home net. Earlier, Penzance had taken the lead 14 minutes from time when Nick Pugliese's free-kick deflected into the net, only for Launceston to draw level within four minutes. The visitors, who lost two players to injury, looked to have clinched the victory with a goal in the last minute of the first period of extra-time, only for Stuart Reynolds to force the shoot-out with a stunning strike into the top corner with virtually the last kick of the game. Overall Launceston, despite looking far from their best, were probably just about worthy winners, although Penzance, with a severely depleted side and only 12 available players, put up a decent show which was a major improvement on last week's display against Vospers.
