Guest
Packhorse came out of a topsy turvy game at St Kew United by the odd goal in seven. The visitors took the lead after seven minutes and what followed was typical Sunday League football with poor first touches and awful finishing with some glimmers of individual skill in the middle. Packhorse doubled their lead in the 43rd minute before the home side pulled one back a minute later. An advertising banner on the ground stated that Langarth Hotel were pleased to sponsor St Kew Highway - yet St Kew United were playing this fixture with Langarth Hotel on their shirts - maybe they support both?! Ten minutes into the second period and the scores were level again. After 66 minutes Packhorse retook the lead from the spot, but with twelve minutes left the home side snatched another equaliser. A fine angled shot on 82 minutes brought an end to the scoring as the sun disappeared behind the trees. The pitch was in good condition but a tractor has left tyre marks and the grass underneath was incredibly soft and it was good that no injuries occured because of this. Paul Cackett had a good game in the middle although he had little to do as the players accepted his decisions which was good to see (even if a couple weren't right!) morcs
Absolutely dire game to play in! Pitch was very tricky in places but that doesn't excuse some of the woeful football we (Packhorse) played. Fair play to St Kew for putting in a shift. Very good work rate shown by their team.
