Plymouth Parkway 3 Welton Rovers 1

£1000 prize money for Parkway & Bodmin.

Felt a bit like a pre-season friendly in the first half yesterday to be honest. With the Olympics still going on , a sunny afternoon, lush pitch and a bit of a small crowd I struggled to get into it .

For the first 45 minutes Parkway had the bulk of possession with it being a case of nearly, but not quite . Our passing, decision making and finishing missed that little bit of sharpness that you would associate with early season .That will come though after a few games . As is so often the way in football, Welton had one opportunity, and took it . The buried a header from a corner with the Parkway players trying to work out how their largest opponent was left unmarked in the penalty area .

With a tactical change early in the second half and the hard working Sam Cooper being replaced by Callum Martindale,Parkway finally began to threaten more and. After 10 minutes of the second half Will Stringer allayed our fears of FA Cup exit, and then the trip to to Gloucester in midweek, with a quick double from the penalty spot and his head . Mark Berry slotted home a fine third shortly after .Parkway could have scored more on the break , but three was enough to secure the win .

We looked bright going forward through Ryan Richards,Mark Berry and Lewis Young and reasonably secure at the back . Darren Potter was a good additional presence on the sidelines as well.

Two home games against Tavistock and Saltash in this nest week are going to tell us a lot about where we are heading this season
