Mt Ambrose 0 .v. Carbis Bay Utd 10

A demoralising end to what has been a disappointing season. CBU well worthy winners who were up and at us from the off with some great passing play and movement which didn't enable us to get a foothold in the game. Our preparations were hampered by some players who would of started not turning up which left us with 12 men. The first 3 goals went to show what is seen time and again at all levels of the game that, when you're on the up, everything goes for you. The first came from some decent play and a cross from the right that looped in off their strikers shoulder. The second came when the ball fell to their lad on the edge of the box whose grasscutter shot took a deflection that sent our 'keeper the wrong way and nestled in the back of the net. CBU's third came from a corner when, what seemed like an eternity of head tennis, the ball fell not to one of our players but one of theirs who lashed the ball home. Half time score was 0 - 4, but could have been more if not for the efforts of Ben James in goal.

Second half we just wanted to play for some pride but had to shuffle our pack when centre half John Williams went off with a knee injury. This was followed by right back Shaun Smith going off with an ankle injury leaving us with 10 men and CBU put us to the sword and added their further six goals with some great finishes mixed in, again some great saves by our goalie kept the score down.

Carbis Bay Utd picked up their league winners trophy after the game and on behalf of all at Mount Ambrose FC, congratulations to all involved with the club.
