oldasitgets
The last game of the season was between, indisputably, the top two teams in our League. Tremough 2 Truro GWRSA 0 Tremough duly completed the double over today's opponents in a match that wasn't without incident. After a lively start from Tremough, an over-enthusiastic response to a bit of leg tugging gave referee Lee Mitchell little choice but to reach for the red card. Sadly, some of the railway supporters were quite abusive to the assistant. Completely uncalled for as he merely reported exactly what he saw to the ref. That was his job. Playing Tremough with 11 was always going to be a challenge. Taking them on with 10 looked impossible. Full marks to Railway. They stuck at their task and, if not comfortably, successfully held Tremough. Half- time 0 - 0. Second half brought a lot of pressure from Tremough but no goals for 25 minutes. In Fact the lone GWRSA striker came close with a superb bit of skill, taking out 3 defenders and slipping past the keeper before mis-cuing the ball past the left hand post. If only.... Tremough scored with a fine move down the right and that sealed the game. Another goal just before the finish made it 2- 0. Well done to all and especially Lee Mitchell and his two assistants, Jon Barnicoat and veteran Dave Baxter. Div 1 Result West Cornwall 5 Gloweth United 0 A fitting end to a fine season. Many thanks to all the clubs for their support and co-operation through what could have been a difficult season. Roll -on September!
