zed_earll
It was a very good game and both teams had spells. Of course playing 2 of the top 4 in 3 days isn't easy but we played well and it was a deserved victory. Our game today on the other hand did show the strain but our squad depth os very good this year and managed to get a good win.
Mama Sidibe
Mining 1 St Buryan 4-3 Goonhavern Both sides had patched up line ups which made for an entertaining game coupled with the performance of the referee. The game started off evenly and Goonhavern were the given the opportunity to take the lead when they were awarded a soft penalty. Sam Waters drilled it down the middle however the keeper didn't move and it remained 0-0. St Buryan took the lead when some sloppy defending allowed their mouthy number 4 to go through and finish well by lobbing Goonhavern's stand in keeper/defender. Goonhavern had chances to equalise however they went in at the break 2-0 down when their centre half headed in from a corner. At the start of the second half Goonhavern had a blatant penalty turned down which resulted in Goonhavern's assistant manager getting sent off for making his feelings known, which was the first time in the game he had made reference to the decision of the referee. St Buryan immediately went down the other end and scored when their player poked the ball home after Goonhavern's keeper was barged out of the way when he had both hands on the ball. Goonhavern pulled one goal back when a combination of Sam Waters and Marc Wilson resulted in the ball making its way across the line. St Buryan made it 4-1 when their centre forward barged Goonhavern's centre back in the back and went through to finish. Goonhavern didn't lie down and made it 4-2 when Craig Brown pinged it in from 25 yards. Joe Carlyon made it 4-3 from a direct free kick which also resulted in their number 4 eventually getting his marching orders for persisting gobbing off. However, Goonhavern couldn't make the extra man advantage count and ended the season in defeat. The match was generally a clean one although St Buryan's centre midfielder put in one nasty challenge, which went unpunished, which thankfully did no more than leave stud marks in and around the Goonhavern's player's knee! Good luck to St Buryan in their remaining fixtures.
