Whistleblower
I read an article recently on measures the NFL have taken to eradicate errors made by their referee's,or whatever they call them. They have a tent like structure on the sideline which houses a tv monitor. The managers of the two teams are allowed 2 challenges of decisions each per game, and when challenged the man in the middle goes and watches a replay on the monitor, and can stick by his original decision or over rule himself. If the challenge is incorrect, that team lose a time-out,a valued commodity in the game. Last season there was was an average of 1.2 challenges per game, and the average hold up per game was about 2mins. There were NO post match uproars involving ref's decisions all season. Obviously FIFA would be against something so simple, but this seems to me a great idea. Maybe a wrong challenge could result in the loss of a substitution. gillo10
Why do that when you can have 18 refs, assistants, and assistants assistants to make a decision. Far to logical, sensible and easy for it even to make the agenda sheet at a Uefa or Fifa meeting. But to the average joe bloggs who watches, plays and enjoys the game its a good idea, but hey what do we all know!?
Xembla
Even though it's a pretty good idea, it'll never get adopted because it stinks of Americanization. The NFL tried it first years ago, and it took forever because the official could take as long as he wanted to review the play. Then they ditched it, and brought it back with a max time and it's gone much better. Everybody seems to like it, and it actually helps the referees because you need "conclusive video evidence" to overturn the call. So it's not like the refs are undermined because for most at-speed calls it's still a judgement and the original call stands. Losing a sub to compensate for the delay sounds like a good idea. Guest Chris B
It wouldn't work being able to 'Lose' a sub. Thats too drastic, no Manager would risk loosing a Sub over a decesion. And what if all Sub's have been used then a chanllenge is made? Last sub used has to leave the pitch? Too many holes i'm afraid. Maybe just reversing the result or indeed sticking by it is a reward enough.? :SM_carton_y:
Xembla
Granted, losing a sub would be drastic, but you'd have to weigh that against, oh, I don't know, maybe a handball incident that alters the course of your season. If all the subs have been made, then no challenge could be made, maybe?

If all the subs have been made, then no challenge could be made, maybe? Then the correct result via video evidence will prevail... That will be justice in it self!? If after video replays it proves your season altering decision right OR indeed wrong then were does it leave the arguement? In the trash with this suggestion................... :SM_carton:
