Newquay AFC players and supporters had to cancel the planned trip to Benidorm over the Cup Final weekend after Ryanair pulled the flights to Alicante, the players rearranged and headed off to Butlins Minehead (as did many other SWPL clubs). Looking through various websites, some players from this part of the world got up to the usual laddish stuff and no harm done.

However, Members of a football club from Bristol who were arrested after dressing up as nuns in Crete are back in the UK. The men said they were "relieved to be home" after arriving at Bristol International Airport at 0100 BST.

Seventeen members and former members of Hanham Athletic were arrested and held for 40 hours by police, and then taken to court still wearing fancy dress. They were accused of "misrepresenting a uniform" but the charges were dropped after the complainant gave no evidence. The men found themselves facing charges of "causing a scandal by provocative acts and misrepresenting a uniform" when the religiously-themed costumes caused a stir in the predominately Greek Orthodox country.

Club chairman Mick Underhill said: "We're very relieved to be home. The prison facilities were horrendous.

"We were put into one cell with eight concrete beds. We had been in the bar for 20 minutes when we were arrested and put in the back of a van." Speaking to BBC News from Crete on Tuesday Mr Underhill, 59, strongly denied any of the party was drunk at the time. "We were not drunk. There's no way whatsoever we were flashing," he said.

The men were taking part in the Hanham Sunday Tour, an annual trip started in the 1960s by the Sunday league team, which now plays in the Bristol Sunday League Premier division. In previous years the men have dressed up as St Trinian's schoolgirls in Portugal and babies in Cyprus.

What worries me most about the above, is the statement that they were NOT DRUNK !

Newquay AFC are hoping to take up the invitation from FC Torrevieja for an end of season friendly in Spain May 2010 - lets hope that Robbo and Hammy don't wear their kilts !
