SEMI FINAL (AT HELSTON)

Recommended Posts

WENDRON 4 (Rogers 22,31 Bartlett 97,Wicks 99)

TRISPEN 4 (Rapsey 41(pen),104,115, Hill 67 )

(TRISPEN WON 4-2 ON PENS AET)

Wendron put in a great performance and were the better side for 100 of the 120 minutes played.it is the second semi final they have lost on penalties this season and they deserved alot better against an injury hit Trispen.they were 2-0 and 4-2 up at different stages of the game.credit to Trispen for their never say die attitude that has got them through many a game this season.the game was excellently reffed by the legendary George Pattison.goes to show that ex players can be just as good with the whistle.more should try it.best of luck to billy and his great bunch of lads for the rest of the season and beyond.they certainly didnt get any tonight! Trispen pleased to be through to the final but will have to play alot better to beat bushys young penryn team.(if we can get 11 players fit to play that is!!!) :(

Disappointing result for us. Leading twice in the game should have closed up and seen the game out. Agree with Rappo that we were better side for majority. Although I disagree with comments about the ref, thought he had a poor one, falling for Rappo's theatrics :D , not only last night but he has reffed our last 3 games and not given us anything. He is shocking :(

2 semi finals, 2 penalty shoot outs. Luck was just not with us :(

Fair play to Trispen for hanging in there, good luck to you in the final.

GREAT GAME TO BE INVOLVED IN LAST NIGHT,HAD EVERYTHING BAR A SENDING OFF!(AND THAT WAS PRITTY CLOSE AT TIMES!!) WENDRON FULLY DESERVE THE CREDIT THEY HAVE BEEN GIVEN AND LIKE RAPPO SAID THEY WERE THE BEST TEAM FOR 100 MINUTES! WE ALWAYS LOOKED DANGEROUS GOING FOWARD THOUGH ,BUT DIDNT FEEL AS IF ANYTHING WAS GOING TO HAPPEN UNTIL WE WERE GIVEN A PENALTY. THEN MY FINELY PLACED 30 YARD LEFT FOOT SHOT(YEAH RIGHT!!) OFF BOTH POSTS AND IN GAVE US AN EQUALISER. THEN WE JUST NEVER GAVE UP AND KEPT PUSHING AND PUSHING AND PROBABLY DESERVED TO MAKE IT 4-4 AET IN THE END. HAVE TO DISAGREE WITH YOU ABOUT THE REF BANANAPITCH, THOUGHT HE HAD A VERY GOOD GAME BUT OF COURSE THERE ARE GOING TO BE DECISIONS THROUGH THE COURSE OF A GAME THAT BOTH TEAMS THINK ARE WRONG. 8/10 FOR THE REF!

IT IS ALWAYS HARSH TO GO OUT ON PENALTIES BUT WENDRON MUST WONDER HOW THIS ONE ENDED UP THERE IN THE 1ST PLACE!!??? THE REST IS JUST A LOTTERY AND WENDRON WERE UNLUCKY TO LOSE OVERALL. A HARD TABLET TO SWALLOW FOR THE LADS.

IN MY OPINION WENDRON HAVE TO BE ONE OF THE MOST IMPROVED TEAMS OVER THE COURSE OF THE SEASON AND BILLY IS DOING A GREAT JOB DOWN THERE WITH A GOOD BUNCH OF LADS.

I WISH THEM ALL THE BEST FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON.

credit to trispin. they hung in there when other teams would. have and should have.slung the towel in..

I feel for my lads. just hope that the younger ones learn from the experiance of taking on some of cornwall

finest. good luck to rappo and his crew for the final. ( what a F***ing game) :clapper:

TRISPEN ARE SPOT ON IN CUP THRILLER:

Trispen 4, Wendron 4 (aet, Trispen won on penalties

Trispen won an incredible Wheatley Cobb Cup semi-final at Helston's Kellaway Park and will now meet Penryn in the final on Tuesday at Carharrack. They got off to a terrible start and were soon 2-0 down in the first 20 minutes against a more than useful Wendron team. Just before half-time they were given a lifeline when Mark Rapsey was fouled in the area and he got up to send the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot. There were chances to win it at both ends, but it was Graham Hill with a spectacular 25-yard shot off both posts that sent the game into extra time. It looked all over again for Trispen when they fell 4-2 behind but their never say die attitude shone through again and they pulled a goal back after good work from substitute Aaron Spear gave Rapsey the chance to net. With just moments remaining man of the match Tony Penrose chipped a great cross to the far post and Rapsey headed home to complete his hat-trick and send the tie into the dreaded penalty shoot out. Trispen need not have worried as excellent penalties from Hill, Spear and Dan Mitchell put them in the driving seat before Liam Matthewman was denied by a brilliant save. It was left to Rapsey to convert the final penalty to send Trispen through to what will hopefully be the first leg of a possible treble winning season.
