Yeah thats true! Kev and Steve have had plenty of people to choose from so lets hope they get a good result and performance vs the navy boys! I could name prob 10 players who I think could be involved but their is 2 great managers who they think is the best possible team. Good luck! Also.....Good to see a Portreath player involved....Pity no St Day players.lol

The debate could go on and on whos the best keeper whos the best striker etc etc. Everyone has views and are entitled to them. Just like on a match day we all think we should be playing there and he should be playing not him.

But thats the beauty of management they picked a side and I would say a pretty good one at that. You could put the whole Perranporth team or Perranwell team out but thats not what its all about.

Im 27 I mean 37 years young and see it as a privilege to play in the game. Maybe getting older but can still do pretty good job.(AND ALL FOR FREE)

Lets hope the game is supported well because it takes a lot of organisation to get it on.......

Well said Winno,

Last year saw players come down from as far as Lincolnshire for the game and saw a crowd of around 25 watch the game. Those who did come saw a cracking close encounter, hopefully this year's will be as competitive.

This is the NAC's first game of the year with a hectic schedule to follow over the summer and autumn. The NAC squad includes familiar faces who play within the Combo.

I was delighted to see Neil 'Nev' Southall named in both the NAC Selection Signal and Combo squad, which shows what a fantastic season he has had at Helston. Nev has informed me that he is unavailable for the tie which is dissapointing for him but at least he has got the recognition I have always believed (as his previous manager in Junior football) he fully deserves.

Heard today from a very good source that the Jollys combination league squad has been desimated by the withdrawl of players whos clubs have stopped them playing. What the hells going on this is combo football not frigging premier league.

Surely the club has no right to stop them from playing unless they are contracted? They might be able to bribe them not to play by withholding any 'wages' they normally get though.

If the Perranporth players have pulled out its probably something to do with the fact that they have games on April 21st/25th/28th/30th & May 2nd/5th/9th/12th/16th/19th.

I would imagine any serious managers would not be keen for their players to play in this game if they were pushing for the league title and promotion....

No offence meant to Perranporth nor it's players, Kappa. I do apologise if my comments appeared that way.

However, I was led to understand that no evening matches were fixtured for this week in order for the select match to proceed with it's strongest possible line-up (in the opinion of the management)?

If that is the case (seems likely) then there shouldn't be any refixtured matches, should there?

You should have picked a few players from Newquat afc. They have performed well against all the so called big teams this year and have had an excellent second half to the season. A force to be reckoned with at full strength. The main reason to have picked though is down to games left ( No complaints with the team picked, it's a good strong side).

The Newquay combo players would love a game of football as they have got 1 game left of the season!!!!

Well done lads, a good season overall. :drink: :smiley20:

spaceman, your right picking a decent side would be a start and from what i can see it ain't a bad side,so that isn't a bad start! are you coming to watch tomorow and cheer the lads on who've been selected or just have a dig if it doesn't go right, maybe then you can come on here and say who should and shouldn't have been selected,or even apply for the job yourself next year and sort the whole 'family connection's'! your right in the three players you've named are very good but again its a select side, maybe they'll be picked in the next 'select' side. those who've been selected should be very proud to be able to play against the naval air command as this is a very good side and the game is played in good spirit but also with alot of passion!

I'm sorry but on looking at the Compo table why the hell are the Navy lads playing this game when Culdrose have so many outstanding games, Scooby as chairman don't you think it would of been better this week catching up with your games. If this game has to be played why not play it over the Easter holdays..

Sorry but had to have my say

Python, The Air Command Squad is made up of servicemen from Yeovilton, Portsmouth and RN personnel based at RAF bases in Lincolnshire. So Culdrose may be behind in games but are this has little bearing on the command squad. Culdrose is not the hub of the Naval air community.

Thought I'd have my say before the people who year in year out thump the drums when Culdrose have their leave breaks during the football season come on and jump on your band wagon.

Thier are Command players that don't even play for Culdrose but who play in the Combination league for other teams. Southall and Collick are 2 names that spring to mind.

And why play it over the Easter Holidays? Guys who are stationed away from home wouldn't give up little family time they have especuially with the Afghanistan Tours alot of Navy personel get now. I.e The Yeovilton lads who support the Marines and the Lincolnshire lads on GR7 's out thier also. SO play during work time is a good get away!

Point made <_<

Goodluck both teams tonight :c:

I would just like to say well done to all the lads who represented their league so well last night. After so many players dropped out, the ones who came in did the combo league, their respective clubs, Steve & i, & most importently, themselves proud. I felt we just done enough to win the game in normal time & the lads only got what they deserved at the end of the night. Thanks to Scooby & the Naval Air Command for their efforts in getting the fixture played & for a very competitive & enjoyable game. Thanks also from Steve, Scooby & myself for the excellent hospitality shown to us all by the Penryn club.

The Team -

Symon Winnan - Helston

Paul Hart - Penryn

Chris Strike - Porthleven

Graham Blake - Helston

Jason Roberts - Illogan

Ashley Thomas - Penzance

Mike Brewer - Perranwell (capt)

Scott Kinge - Perranwell

Mark Goldsworthy - Helston

Dom Pullen - Helston

Tom Benny - St Agnes

subs -

Andrew Curnow - St Just (Winnan)

Tj Wilson - Perranwell (Strike)

Ollie Moody - Penryn (Hart)

Jamie Tipton - Newquay (Pullen)

Adam Pryor - Penryn (Thomas)

Mark Goldsworthy equalised for the combo side early in the 2nd half after Aaron Collick had scored for the navy.
