Just spoken to Judge and the game has finished with a newquay win

newquay started slower but gradually building up the more pressure on the hosts.

the game was delayed for a good half hour as one of the players was air lifted to hospital with a broken ankle he didnt say whether it was newquay or godolphin but always gonna get something like that in a derby.

Porthleven 1-2 Penzance.

First goal scored by Stuart Reynolds for Port. A break on the left, cross box ball to the right. Ball back in, Stu knocks ball in on the turn and under pressure from 5yds out. 1-0, 7mins.

Pz apply pressure, Port with quick breaks still threaten.

Glyn Hooper equalises on 22mins. Crowded box, keeper pushed out of it, rising shot from 10yds. 1-1.

H-T

2nd half probably 60-40 to Pz with very little from Port up front.

Pz winner a penalty scored by Mark Vercesi on 52mins after Liam Devine broght down. Daft thing was Liam had lost control of the ball and was facing away from goal when he was upended.

Good crowd. I estimate roughly 400 all stayed to the end.

CTB - at least those of us from Newquay would not dare dispute the figures quoted unlike your rash comments regarding the Boxing Day figures at Mount Wise despite you not being present!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Godolphin 0 v 5 Newquay.

Newquay Loyal took over the G pub from 11am and were a little disappointed that the so called famous G army did not show for some pre-match banter. In fact the day was one for all Newquay fans who made all the noise and showed that Boxing Day meant nothing.

Only one team in Newquay and they showed the upstarts from up the road, who are title challengers, and who are happy with a mid-table position, G will claim that 4 players are still on hoilday in Bali (after a month ? and how many beer vouchers ?) but the Reds did have a centre forward in goal, so sort of balenced things out. Perhaps it was the Rod Beer factor ?

Newquay were dominate from the k.o. and Scott Palmer didn't have a shot to save as the Visitors and their very noisy support celebrated being 4-0 at half time. The supposed 'G' Army were actually few in number, no more than 10 in fact, and were outshouted and outsung throughout the game by the Newquay Loyal. Unfortunately, Azzer and his Sambuca demands held the match up for 30mins, although certain elements of the G support let themselves down by praising the G lad who was involved in the 50/50 challenge. Thankfully, the G management had words before things got out of hand.

It ended 0-5 to the mighty Reds and all was good after the match, other than one idiot who fancied his chances in the beer garden but was warned off. The players enjoyed G hospitality before heading back to the Newquay clubhouse (joined by G players and officials) for more beer and stuff.

A cracking day all round but those at Mount Wise hope we never have to play G again, and our thoughts are with Azzer.

Feel free to correct me if im wrong but wasnt scott palmer signed by newquay as a goalkeeper not a striker!!!

You sign a player and the manager decides in which position he plays ! Scotty was always a top keeper but suffered a back injury whilst at St Blazey. He returned to Newquay as a forward for the combo side but today played in goal after playing outfeild for the SWPL side this season (although I could have done his job and perhaps only conceded one)

Well done to Newquay today. As the scoreline suggests they were easily the better team on the day and thouroughly deserved their victory.

We will keep things in perspective in that it is still very early days for us at this level.

Hopefuly the 3 points we took at Mount Wise earlier in the season will be enough to ensure we have two more ;ocal Derbys to look forward to next season.

And Newquay fans hope that the only local derbys you get next season are against Perranporth.

Newquay deserve to be in the Prem after the results thay have had this season, whilst it has been good for both clubs in terms of finance, we would rather play our traditional rivals of Falmouth and Blazey.

Good luck to G next season, but we hope that we never have to play you again. If we do, then we hope that it will be as exciting as the last 2 games.

I think the gate at porthleven was around 430, so cornishteddyboy was right with his estimate, watching the game i thought port wasn`t really in it the second half, seemed to lose the desire to win. shame really.

Some pics of the game, copyright mind, dont go copying now!!!

Im sure that all involved with Godolphin will admit that whilst they had their day on Boxing Day, today was Newquays day (with the exception of the injury to Aaron).

Newquay looked bright early on then G created a couple of chances including a header which was just over. After that it was pretty much one way traffic with Scott Palmer only really needing to make one save in the second half. A thoroughly convincing win was pretty much wrapped up with four first half goals and some nice football to boot.
